The NSGS membership year runs from June 1 to May 31 of each year.
Being an NSGS member has benefits!
Get the quarterly publication, the
Nebraska Ancestree. The
Ancestree contains a variety of genealogical and historical source material related to Nebraska and Nebraskans. Society members may submit free queries to be included in the publication. Members may also submit articles for publication that relate to Nebraska or genealogy. Questions about the Ancestree can be sent to:
editor@nsgs.org The Nebraska Ancestree is mailed to US addresses only. It is available in digital and printed format.
Members-only access to NSGS website information includes Family Recognition Certificates and for some the application materials, a list of charter members, a
Nebraska Newspapers list, the most recent NSGS Conference syllabus, and more.
Members-only emails on upcoming events and resources. This also includes the NSGS
NewBrassKey newsletter which features genealogical hints, aids, news, upcoming events, information about publications, new NSGS Library acquisitions, and other resources.
Discounts for the NSGS annual spring conference
NSGS Library: The NSGS library collection is housed in the beautiful Beatrice Public Library, 100 N 16th St, Beatrice, NE. NSGS members are allowed to rent materials from the collection for a fee that covers postage. Library holdings include a vast collection of resource materials for most counties in Nebraska as well as many local and family histories. Limited source materials for states adjoining Nebraska and along the great migration trail are also available. Visit the library website at

*Institutions do not have members-only access. Institutions receive one copy of the Nebraska Ancestree to share among their members or to post in their library. Institutions may get a vendor discount at NSGS annual events.
*Digital memberships do not get a printed copy of the "Nebraska Ancestree", but rather may read it by viewing online or downloading from this website under members only (after logging in) and "secure downloads".
